- Coming from Florence or Siena:
Take the highway (autoraccordo ) Firenze - Siena and exit at Colle
Val d'Elsa.
At Colle take the road S.S.68 to Volterra.
When you reach the city limits of Volterra (white sign with black letters
'VOLTERRA'), there are 3 buildings on the right side. The first is the Volkswagen
workshop, the second an alabaster workshop and the third a private house. Turn right
immediately after this house, at the end of a group of cypresses.
- Coming from Pisa / Lucca
or Livorno:
At Pisa (or also at Livorno) take the highway that connects Pisa, Livorno
and Florence (SGC Fi-Li-Pi) in direction Florence and exit at "Pontedera /
Ponsacco". At the exit turn left to Ponsacco, then take the road to Volterra
(S.P.439). At a certain point this road goes straight on to Saline di Volterra and on the
left to Volterra. Turn left until you reach a crossing (shortly after the hotel -
restaurant Molino d'Era) where a sign indicates Volterra to to right. Turn LEFT
there and cross the arched bridge. Immediately after
this turn right and follow the street in direction "Roncolla"
until the end. The big building on your right side is Roncolla, there you encounter the
road S.S.68. Turn right towards Volterra until you reach the city limits
of Volterra, then follow like above.
- Coming from the seaside (Cecina)
Take the road S.S.68 to Volterra. When you reach the city walls, turn right
in direction Firenze / Siena. You will pass under a bridge and after some
more 2 km (1 1/4 miles) you will see a group of three houses on the left
side, with some cypresses along the street in front of the first one.
There is a small street going to the left, before these cypresses, on the corner there are
yellow signs which lead to San Lorenzo. Follow the signs and you will
reach us after about 600 meters.
